FAQs

At Crow & Timber, custom furniture design is more than craftsmanship. It is a collaborative process built on thoughtful deisgn, precise 3D visualization, and intentional woodworking. Based in Nevada, Iowa and serving clients in Central Iowa, we create one of a kind pieces tailored to the way you live. If you would like to learn more about our philosophy, background, and approach to design, we invite you to explore our story.

  • How does the custom furniture design work?

Every project begins with a consultation where we discuss your space, style preferences, dimensions, and functional needs. We then create detailed 3D renderings so you can visualize your piece before it is built. Once the design is finalized and approved, we move into material selection and precision craftsmanship. This collaborative process ensures your custom furniture is built exactly as envisioned.

  • What type of custom furniture do you build?

We design and build custom dining tables, built-in cabinetry, coffee tables, shelving systems, entertainment centers, bedroom furniture, doors, and statement peices tailored to your space. Each project is one of a kind and built to exact dimensions. Whether you are furnishing a new home or refining an existing room, we create furniture designed specifically for your layout and style.

  • How long does a custom furniture project take?

Project timelines vary depending on complexity, materials, and current production schedule. Most custome furniture projects move from initial design consultation to completion within a few weeks. During your consultation, we provide a clear timeline so you know exactly what to expect. Our goal is to balance precision craftsmanship with efficient delivery.

  • What makes custom furniture different from store bought furniture?

Custom furniture is built specifically for your space, not adapted to it. Dimensions, materials, finishes, and proportions are tailored to fit your room perfectly. Unlike mass produced pieces, custom furniture allows for complete control over design and quality. The result is a piece that integrates seamlessly into your home and lasts for years.

  • What materials do you use for custom furniture?

We work with high quality hardwoods and premium materials selected based on your design goals and performance needs. Material selection is part of the design phase, where we review durability, grain patern, finish options, and how the piece will function in your space. Choosing the right materials is essential to producing long lasting custom wood furniture.

  • Do you work with clients outside of Iowa?

Yes. While Crow & Timber is based in Iowa and primarily serves clients throughout Central Iowa, we are open to select projects outside of the state. Because every piece is custom designed and built, out of state projects are evaluated based on scope, logistics, and delivery requirements. If you have a custom furniture project in mind outside of Iowa, we welcome the opportunity to discuss it.
